Animated Work

Animation Reel (2024)

2023 Safety Animation (Winner)

Date: Dec 2022
Software: Blender, Adobe Premiere Pro

This video won the annual FIRST Safety Animation Award. This was my fifth submission for a FIRST Robotics Competition annual animation award contest. The prompt asked for an animation that showcased solutions to how FRC teams can safely navigate the dangers of chemical, potential, and kinetic energy, and how said solutions can be applied to future technologies. For this project, I combined techniques from several online tutorials to make a clay shader in Blender for a unique style, as well as the wireframe shader. All models were created from scratch.

2023 Digital Animation (Winner)

Date: January 2023
Software: Blender, DaVinci Resolve

This video won the annual FIRST Digital Animation Award. This was my sixth submission for a FIRST Robotics Competition annual animation award contest. The prompt asked for an animation that showed off a “charged-up” solution to an everyday problem. For my animation, I decided to depict someone charging up their community to recycle. After storyboarding the sequence, I created the environment and animated the camera compositions and movements. I also experimented with animating the characters on twos to give a better claymation style. All models and textures are original creations.

Animated growingSTEMS Logo

Date: August 2023
Software: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects

This is an animated logo reveal I created for the nonprofit organization, growingSTEMS, which hosted my FRC team (836, The RoboBees). After splitting up the existing Illustrator vector file into individual layers, I developed this version of the reveal using Adobe After Effects. Sound effects and music are from Pixabay.com. I did not create the logo itself.

Minnow Bowl

Date: December 2023
Software: Maya, Adobe Premiere Pro

This was the final project for my introductory Animation 1 class at the Rochester Institute of Technology School of Film and Animation. We were aloud to pick any subject and software we wanted as long as it was animated and fit within 20 seconds. I decided to make a 3D character animation in Maya with lip-sync. The character rig and laptop model were not created by me.

Sentinel Society Logo Animation

Date: October 2023
Software: Adobe After Effects, Adobe Illustrator

This was an assignment for my job as a video production assistant for the Rochester Institute of Technology NTID Communications, Marketing & Multimedia Services department. I was given a list of specifications from the client and spoke with my supervisor to determine what the content would be, then independently developed the product. I used Adobe Illustrator to design this original logo, then imported the vector into Adobe After Effects to animate it.

NTID 55th Anniversary Timeline Graphic

Date: September 2023
Software: Adobe After Effects

As an assignment for my job as a video production assistant for the Rochester Institute of Technology NTID Communications, Marketing & Multimedia Services department, I created the animated sections of this video. After getting briefed by my supervisor, I independently developed the animated timeline graphic in Adobe After Effects between stages of feedback and critique. The final product was implemented into the larger video (I did not edit the portions without the timeline).

2022 Safety Animation (Finalist)

Date: Dec 2021
Software: Blender, Adobe After Effects

This video won the finalist award "Best Animation" for the annual FIRST Safety Animation Award. It was my third submission for a FIRST Robotics Competition annual animation award contest. The prompt asked for an animation displaying how future transportation technologies can be designed with the safety of both the environment and people in mind. I decided to continue to explore a low-poly 3D style from my previous submission. I followed an online tutorial for the first car model in the animation, and then designed the rest of the vehicles using the technique I learned alongside real life reference photos. I also experimented with combining finished renders from Blender with motion graphics in Adobe After Effects to create a dynamic and informative final product.

2022 Digital Animation

Date: January 2022
Software: Blender, Adobe After Effects

This was my fourth submission for a FIRST Robotics Competition annual animation award contest. The prompt asked for an animation that showcased a transportation innovation of the future. After in-depth brainstorming with my media subteam peers, I settled on the idea of a food delivery drone. For this project, I experimented with more photorealistic modeling for the environment, using my own kitchen as a visual reference. This was my first time delving into detailed character modeling through the human and the drone, as well as testing out automatic rigging. I followed an online tutorial to create the human, and made the drone from scratch using various reference photos. Aside from the environment texture, music, and the drone sound effects, all content in the animation was made by me.

AP Research Discipline Guide

Date: June 2022
Software: Adobe After Effects

This was an optional end-of-year video project for my AP Research class. The requirement was to make a guide for future students in the research discipline you chose that year, which for me was Sociology. Using various downloaded assets, I created this animated video in Adobe After Effects.

When You Give a Squirrel a Sandwich

Date: May 2023
Software: Blender, DaVinci Resolve

This was the final project for the film production unit of my high school Digital Composition class, where I was tasked with creating a literary adaptation with a twist. I chose the children’s book, “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” by Laura Numeroff, and used Blender to make an animation. I created a screenplay and storyboard, recorded the dialogue, and then moved on to modeling and rigging the characters and environments to be as close as possible to the book’s visuals. I then modified a shader technique from a Blender Eevee watercolor tutorial video to create a 2D colored pencil style. Finally, I edited the rendered shots together with the dialogue, sound effects, and music in DaVinci Resolve.

Heartfelt Club AED Informational Video

Date: February 2022, Updated August 2023
Software: Adobe After Effects

This is an informational PSA video for my high school that I directed and edited in the Heartfelt Club, which promoted heart health awareness. In the video, I discuss what an AED is and the location of AEDs in the school building. I used Adobe After Effects to edit the video. When a new AED was installed on the second floor in 2023, I updated the video with a new voiceover, new video clip, and additional animations.

Video Projects

Allegro (Production 1 Final)

Date: December 2023
Software: Adobe Premiere Pro

This was the group final project for my Production 1 class at the Rochester Institute of Technology School of Film and Animation. I was the assistant director and editor of the short film, as well as the storyboarder. I collaborated with my two group members during the brainstorming process, helped with lighting on-set, and communicated with the director for feedback while editing.

Digital Composition - Class Commercial

Date: February 2023
Software: DaVinci Resolve, Blender, Adobe Audition, Adobe After Effects

This was my final project for the advertising unit in my high school Digital Composition class that aired on the school news. After creating a script and shot list, I filmed clips both on and off campus, then used DaVinci Resolve to compile the footage together. I created the logo reveal at the end in Blender, used Adobe Audition to record, modulate, and edit the voiceover, and downloaded and customized a free Adobe After Effects template to create the text screens throughout. Combining these together with downloaded footage and music, I developed the final commercial.

HNN Spotlight Video

Date: October, 2021
Software: Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects

This was a video project I worked on for my community FIRST robotics team, intended to members of the team participating in a combat robotics competition. I wrote the script and anchored for the introduction, and later edited the video together. I created the intro animation and lower thirds graphic in Adobe After Effects.

Digital Composition - Video Essay

Date: September 2022
Software: DaVinci Resolve

This was a collaborative group project in my high school Digital Composition class for our Digital Citizenship unit. I worked with one other person to brainstorm, script, record, and edit a video essay about the Digital Divide. The editing work was split evenly for each segment we voiced (mine being the beginning and end), and we gave feedback and tweaks to each other’s sections. This was made in DaVinci Resolve.

Digital Composition - Propaganda Video

Date: November 2022
Software: DaVinci Resolve

This was the final project for the propaganda unit in my high school Digital Citizenship class, in which I was tasked with creating some form of propaganda using the techniques we learned in class. After choosing my subject, I created a script, downloaded stock footage & music, and recorded a voiceover in Adobe Audition. I then edited the video together in DaVinci Resolve.

AP Biology - House M.D. Parody Project

Date: June 2022
Software: Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects

This was a collaborative end-of-year group project for my AP Biology class. We were tasked with creating a parody episode of the TV show, “House M.D.” in which a patient would be correctly diagnosed with a given disease after some specifications. I worked with three of my classmates over the course of three days to develop a script for the video as well as plan and film the shots, and then I independently edited the video in Premiere Pro. I also used Adobe After Effects to tweak the House M.D. intro for the project. I masked out the existing text and added the group member names, and inserted new visuals. I also included some downloaded footage and music.

Graphic Designs

The following images are designs I created in Adobe Illustrator for various projects, primarily for my FIRST Robotics Competition team from 2019 to 2023. Every year, a Naval aviation themed name was chosen for the robot, and a logo was created alongside it. For each logo design, I worked with my Media sub-team to brainstorm the robot name, poll the rest of the team to decide on one, and then brainstorm the logo design. I then drafted several versions of the logos, and went through multiple iterations of polling feedback with the whole team to focus the final design. The robot logos were also attached to the physical robot alongside a team shirt. In addition to these, I developed various other designs for the team that are also showcased below.
